The Island of the Dolls (La Isla de las Muñecas)

The Island of the Dolls (La Isla de las Muñecas) is a
chinampa of the Laguna de Tequila located in the channels of Xochimilco, south
of the center of Mexico City. It is a popular tourist attraction due to dolls
of various styles and colors being found throughout the island. They were
originally placed by the former owner of the island, Julián Santana Barrera,
who passed from a heart attack in 2001. He believed that dolls helped to chase
away the spirit of a girl who drowned years ago

According to a legend, a young girl drowned entangled among
the lilies of the canal and her body was found on the banks of the Santampa
chinampas. Santana claimed to have heard the girl crying out "I want my
doll" and terrified, hung up the doll he found near the girl's body. After
the event, every time he went outside, he claims to have found a new doll
hanging from one of the trees. He later died in the same spot the girl drowned.
Many believe that his death was caused by the girl's spirit, which still haunts
the island.

There are many hypotheses about the true nature of the snow beast
which range from them being a corrupted nature spirit seeking vengeance for how
nature is being treated to an interdimensional creature.

The truth is they are the
result of a native American shaman who was cursed when he/she resorted to eating
the flesh of another person while in the deep woods. Some think that a snow
beast is a lesser type of wendigo.

a snow beast attacks with its huge clawed hands.

Snow Beast abilities

Environmental Blending

This ability allows the snow beast to pass through woods and other natural environments without leaving a trace behind (footprints, hair, etc.). In addition, while the power is in effect, they blend into their environment

Chilling conditions

This effect can be used to either drop the
ambient temperate within a 500’radius by 1d10 degrees Fahrenheit per round.
Temperature change is cumulative, and ultimate temperature adjustment depends
on how many of continuous use is employed. After the power is used, the
temperature will adjust toward the normal ambient temperature by 1 degree per
minute.

The Ghul

The Ghul are said to be offspring of Iblis the jinn that was cast from heaven for not prostrating himself before Adam. Ghuls are shape-shifting cannibalistic and blood-drinking spirits. Unlike normal jinn who prefer to be in the spirit form, a Ghul chooses to manifest in a corporeal form to feed on the flesh of human beings and to cause as much fear on man. Some state that a Ghul lures unwary people into abandoned places to slay and devour them then takes the form of the person most recently eaten. Once in the assumed form, a Ghul can travel in the waking world spreading fear and pain. Some historians theorize that Jack the Ripper was a Ghul. When someone has suffered at the hand of another, they can summon a Ghul to seek vengeance for them for a price, a Ghul can be summoned by meeting two requirements:
• cutting oneself and using his or her blood creates the summoning symbol
• The Summoner must provide a willing or not person(s) to act as a sacrificial offering to the Ghul. This can be anyone from a small child to an elderly person. The Ghul would kill and devour the victim to assume his or her likeness – once the likeness has been assumed the Ghul will go carry out its mission.

The price of summoning a Ghul

Most learned Imam’s from across the Muslim world have debated the very nature of these creatures and why of all the jinn they allow themselves to be summoned easily. The answer is to spread chaos and distrust among the believers and non-believers alike – a ghul wants to lead people away from the light so if it is summoned and completes the task presented to it the ghul will appear to the Summoner as someone he or she knows – revealing the final cost – the ghul will attack and devour someone the summoner cares for.
Note: When a ghul assumes the appearance of his victim – his or her soul is absorbed into the ghul allowing it to access memories and mannerisms of the victim.
A Ghul differ in many ways from the European idea of a Ghoul. The first obvious difference is that a Ghul is a type of jinn and is incorporeal. Ghouls are corporeal creatures and as such they are susceptible to harm and take normal STA and Injury damage from weapons. A ghul can only be wounded or hurt by a weapon made of iron blessed by an imam.

Shapeshifting Werewolf In Texas??

Mrs. Delburt Gregg of Greggton, Texas, told of her encounter with a shapeshifting creature in the 1960 issue of Fate. The other surveyed sightings below are of creatures that looked like man-wolves but no one has seen one becoming another. Mrs. Gregg has not seen a man turned into a wolf but she has actually come closer than anyone else in telling a tale that sounds like a chapter from a werewolf novel than a real-life experience.

Mrs. Gregg said that one night in 1958 when her husband was on a business trip, she moved her bed close to a screen window hoping to catch some cool breeze from a thunderstorm brewing on the southwestern horizon. She heard a scratching sound from the window shortly after she fell asleep. In a flash of lightning, she saw a huge, shaggy, wolf-like creature clawing at the screen and staring at her with baleful, glowing, slitted eyes. She saw its bared white fangs

The creature fled from the yard into a clump of bushes as she leaped from her bed to grab a flashlight. Mrs. Gregg said, “I watched for the animal to come out of the bushes, but after a short time, instead of a great shaggy wolf running out, the figure of an extremely tall man suddenly parted the thick foliage and walked hurriedly down the road, disappearing into the darkness.”

Real "Zombie Attacks" That Actually Happened

In August 2016, a 19-year-old college student, Austin Harrouf, reportedly stormed away from a restaurant in Jupiter, FL, where he’d been dining with his parents, apparently upset over the slow service there. He then wandered into a neighborhood, where a couple, Michelle Mischon and John Stevens III, sat in their garage with the door open, enjoying a quiet evening. Harrouf pulled a switchblade on the couple and stabbed them to death, apparently without provocation. A neighbor attempted to intervene and called 911 but was stabbed by the man as well.

When police arrived, they found Harrouf naked, ripping away chunks of the couple’s flesh and eating it. He was also growling, grunting, and making “animal noises.” Repeated use of stun guns and a police dog could not sway Harrouf from his “meal,” and finally three officers had to pull the man away from the bodies by force.

What makes this case especially strange is that Harrouf, prior to this bizarre crime, was a model student who seemed to have things pretty well figured out. It is reported that he had been hanging out with some of his fraternity brothers prior to joining his parents for dinner, but his toxicology report came back clean. Other test results for synthetic drugs are pending, though officials did say Harrouf showed no other characteristic symptoms associated with substances like flakka or bath salts.

Kevin Santos

Kevin Santos was pronounced dead at a hospital in his hometown of Belem in Brazil. The two-year-old was placed in an airtight body bag for three hours while his family made preparations for his funeral.  During the wake, family members noticed the boy moving. Santos then sat up and asked his father for a glass of water. The ecstatic family was let down, however, when only seconds later the boy fell over again. He was rushed to the hospital and declared dead a second time.

Clairvius Narcisse

Clairvius Narcisse died on May 2, 1962 after admitting himself to the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Deschapelle, a town in the Artibonite Valley of Haiti. He had been suffering from a plethora of ailments, but no direct cause for his symptoms could be determined.

Eighteen years later, in 1980, his sister Angelina saw Narcisse in a marketplace. He recounted the memories of his own “death,” including being buried alive. He had been placed into a death-like state by a bokor, or sorcerer, and after being dug up he was whisked away to a plantation to serve as a zombified laborer. He escaped after two years of slavery and wandered the Haitian countryside, only willing to return to his village when his brother, whom he believed to have made the deal with the bokor that turned Narcisse into a zombie, had finally passed away.  A researcher named Wade Davis later investigated Narcisse’s case, and claimed to have discovered the key to zombification, namely the use of the datura plant, which, according to Patrick D. Hahn of Biology Online, “contains the hallucinogens atropine and scopolamine, and induces delirium, confusion, psychosis, and complete amnesia.” It could never be conclusively determined, however, whether or not this substance was actually used on Narcisse.

As you enter the morgue

How many times have I used that sentence? many times my friends…many times since 1985 when I first got my hands on CHILL then published by pacesetter. The rules were easy to understand that once you opened the box you were able to play within the hour of opening. I missed those games – Edward Fink ran by my friend John Karnay and Conner Mccloud ran by the great statesman Alan Kaltman. We ran chill from 1985 til 1999 when I left New York and started a new life with my wife. Jump ahead to present, I stumble upon the rebirth of pacesetter when I found ROTWORLD online. I was ecstatic and grabbed a copy quicker then my wife saying no. I loved the rules, but it still wasn’t the same as chill.. it felt like a natural extension to the game I loved . Jumping ahead as a whim, I went back to the pacesetter site and what did I find? Crypt world! again I snagged up a pdf of the game and added it to my kindle. I am home… I feel the need to transpose my old chill campaign (I still have the 1st & 2nd edition) to this new version. One note – I was one of the few people who play tested the doomed 3rd edition. Which is now dead in the water and maybe its not a bad thing.
